I thought I’d post a slightly longer version here - enjoy! It has become customary, whenever a ‘Christianity is doomed’ news story does the rounds, to find broadsheet commentators mourning the closure of churches, the fading of values and the ebbing of community feeling – without expressing much enthusiasm for the religious vision that they assume once underpinned all this.
